Overview
This workshop focuses on skill building and training in eleven managerial leadership practices. This training enables managers to get the best work out of subordinates as individuals and as a team and to manage subordinates’ contracts from when they join the team to when they leave it.
Approach
This workshop consists of three days of lecture, practice and group exploration in managerial leadership practices, and can be done with intact groups or in open sessions.
What You Will Learn
The scope is skill building in managerial leadership practices to help the manager
- obtain the best work from subordinates as individuals through task assignment, monitoring work, task adjustment and coaching
- obtain the best work from subordinates as a team through context setting, team building, team planning and continuous improvement, and
- manage the contract with subordinates through selection and induction, effectiveness appraisal and deselection/dismissal).
Participants will have a model and a worksheet for each practice and an understanding of the practice’s importance. They will not be fully skilled, but they will have everything they need to practice to become skilled. Their managers will have what they need to coach them to be better managers.
Training Outcomes
Participants will learn the essential leadership skills for managing their departments.
