Overview
This 1-day workshop provides participants with an overview of the fundamental principles and techniques of Lean techniques in Construction. Participants learn how to rapidly and dramatically improve business processes throughout the entire organization using the concepts of Lean originally developed by Toyota.
This methodology, used world-wide provides a reliable approach for achieving world class performance improvement through employee involvement. Organizations that have successfully implemented Lean have seen cost savings for controllable costs on the order of 40%, and project delivery reliability rates increase by 75-85%.
Approach
Held in a workshop format, this course is designed to teach participants how to effectively use many of the tools of Lean (as shown here in SatiStar’s House of Lean). Graduates will understand the variety of Lean methodologies and tools that are used, and will be able to effectively lead and participate in Lean improvement projects.
Participants will learn how to focus on and use many of the proven Lean tools to contribute to the success of the organization.
While the principles are the same, Lean for Construction is quite different from Lean for Production. This workshop provides an overview on the practical use of the tools of Lean as applied to the overall Construction industry. The focus of this workshop is to enable participants to understand the application of Lean through all aspects of Construction, including Concept, Design, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Maintenance, and End-of-Life Decommissioning.
Participants will learn through lecture, class discussions, class exercises, case studies based on real-life applications, and team breakouts.
SatiStar’s experts can also follow-up this training with on-site consultants to ensure that the use of the tools is applied effectively.
