This health care service provider operated over 30 branch offices across Canada. The business involved the provision of a wide range of medical support services to individuals in their own homes. The company’s core IT system was not supporting their business needs, as it had both throughput capacity limitations and capability limitations in terms of the management and operational data that could be extracted from the system.
SatiStar performed a business performance improvement assessment of the client’s core business processes and their IT system, providing detailed recommendations on the short-term and long-term actions to be taken in order to eliminate the current IT problem.
The assessment revealed opportunities to make radical improvement within two core business processes. The IT application was determined to be non-fixable due to aspects of the system’s architecture that could not be modified. A reorganization of the client’s current business structure and the consolidation of several of their branch sites was recommended, which would eliminate 30 clerical positions. The recommendations were implemented by the client, resulting in operating cost savings in the order of $3-6 million.
